After twenty five years of experience,I can honestly say that skin tone really only has one of two colors. Your skin is either cool toned ( blue pigment) or warm toned (orange pigment). Hair color in a way,also only has two tones. Cool tone (blue) or warm tone (orange). The problem with blue and orange is that they are exactly opposite to each other on the color wheel, so if you mix them together, they cancel each other out. That’s what happens to hair color and skin tone. If you have a cool toned skin (blue) and we put a warm toned (orange) color in your hair, the warm tone (orange) will cancel out your good (blue) tones and cause your skin tone to appear grey and colorless.The opposite will happen if you have warm tones (orange) in your skin and we put a cool tone (blue) color in your hair.
Take a look at yourself in the mirror right now. Are you pale or sallow? Does your skin appear patchy or blotchy? Are there shadows under your eyes? You might have the opposite colour to your skin tone, in your hair colour.
Adding Foil Hilites
Adding hilites to your color is great for adding enhancing, contrasting and interesting effects. I add a dynamic by matching the hilite color to one (or two) of the facet colors in your eye. The effect is great. As you turn your head, the light catches the foil hilite and picks up the facet color in your eyes making your eyes sparkle, or even adding intrigue.
