To answer directly, no it is not. I’ll explain why. In order for us to be able to get to the disulphide bonds in the hair, we have to change the hair to an alkaline state. An alkaline Ph will cause the hair to swell and the cuticle layer will open. This will allow us to get the crème to the cortex which is where the disulphide bonds are situated. Once the product has access to the bonds it would take approximately thirty minutes to break all of the bonds apart. An important part of this process is that the hair is allowed to swell gently. The hair should be handled with the correct tension necessary for straightening. Inexperienced hands may cause damage mechanically which is very likely to happen, if not handled correctly. This is one of the reasons why only qualified and experienced people should deliver this service.
